Trapped!
September 15th 2006 05:15
I met a builder who always had excuses why his men’s pay was not ready. He lost his men and then his partners, and ended up being limited to projects he could do by himself. God’s natural justice goes a long way. This builder was caught in his own trap. No-one would work for him.
There are quite a number of verses in scripture that explain this principle.
More examples.
I once heard a man say that he wanted to marry but didn’t know whether he could remain faithful to one wife. It was all very well having heaps of flings, but it all bounced back on him when he wanted to establish something permanent in his life, and a good environment for his children. His eyes were infected with the wandering lust and he couldn’t control himself. God doesn’t want children broken by defective marriages and divorce. Faithfulness in marriage is elementary dear Watson when it comes to strong, thriving children and contentment for either party. It is possible, and something to aspire to, as many wonderful diamond weddings have attested.
The unfaithful will be caught by their lust. Proverbs 11:6
How many people have been caught by their habit at the pokies, the horses, the nightclubs, pubs and the net (pornography)?
In our heart of hearts we know what is right and wrong, what is good and what is not blessed. At least, everybody knows exactly how the Christians should behave! If you don’t know what to do, think what you’d expect of a Christian in the same position! We have an innate sense of right and wrong, diluted, contaminated and snuffed out though it may be. To ignore this function within us is to court the danger of being trapped in our own bad habits. And reaping the consequences
Once, in an office situation, a woman I had assisted to manager level tried to turn all the staff against me because she was not wanting to account for her use of funds. She used staff meetings to list my errors. I had to stand alone on this issue as she would fire anyone who stood with me. However, in the end the secret vote went against her and she lost her position. She fell into her own trap.
Proverbs 21:6 says “Wealth created by lying is a vanishing mist and a deadly trap”.
Proverbs 26;27 says “If you set a trap for others you will get caught in it yourself. If you roll a boulder down on others, it will roll back and crush you.”
The consequences may not happen immediately and people may seem to get away with things, but in the end traps capture those who set them! Look around for your own examples. They are everywhere! It is always best to act in the best interests of the people around you. The rewards are better!
