Generousity

Proverbs 11:25 The generous soul will be made rich.
A seed sown in the ground grows and produces a plant, a flower, a hundred new seeds. Just imagine, if he had kept the original seed he would have only one!
Anything we give away is like a seed invested in something or someone. Buy someone lunch, and you are investing money, time and confidence in them. You invest money because that’s what lunch costs. You invest time which is an investment in their fragile self-esteem because you have wanted their company.
Why have you done this? Maybe because you thought they were interesting, or worth the effort. In other words you have appreciated something about them which has caused a response. You are a responsive person.
To be responsive, you have to be sensitive to a need. Appreciation, responsiveness, sensitivity, there are many qualities expressed and grown by the act of giving. So, in giving you are growing as a person, expanding the capacity of your mind and understanding. Is it any wonder that you are more attractive to others who will come closer to you, interact with you and send more substance in your direction.
One of the business principles very largely used in internet marketing is the principle of giving away free material. This enable the recipient to have confidence in the company and increases the prospect of their making a purchase.
Another business practice involves giving a small gift when asking for a purchase because it puts the potential client in your debt and makes them feel obliged to purchase from you.
The act of giving creates relationship and goodwill. Like the proverbial stone thrown in the still water, this creates ripples which will bounce back towards you. I love it that Australia gave towards countries suffering the Tsunami wave. Much goodwill and trust was created. Who knows when that will blossom into new relationships?
Compare this with bullying or domineering, which attempts to gain power, but creates avoidance and withdrawal strategies. It actually sets you right back as far as riches or wealth is concerned.
