My Turn.
October 11th 2006 13:26
Yes. One day it will be your turn! One day everything you have done will come flowing powerfully back at you to give you a great clout over the head. If you have done wonderful things the clout will make you drunk with joy! If you have done selfish and seedy or violent (disrespectful) things the clout will knock you down and out for the count! You may think you can get away with things, but they will all come back to haunt you.
The Bible says it in so many different and interesting ways!
“He who lives by the sword dies by the sword.”
“As a man thinketh, so is he”
Pro;v 26:27 “If you set a trap for others you will get caught in it yourself.”
“Father, forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.”
“As a man sows, so shall he reap.”
That last statement is a beauty. If a man plants a tomato seed, it eventually becomes a tomato plant and produces many tomatoes and hundreds of seeds. All of those seeds will grow, not apples, not potatoes, but tomatoes. Tomatoes and tomato seeds will be returned in bucketfuls. Do you get the point? If you sow (produce) mean spiritedness, you’ll reap mean-spiritedness in great bucketfuls. Is you create generosity, you’ll find generousity falling on your shoulders in great heaps. If you sow lies, and cheating, then you’ll reap a liar’s bountiful reward. If you place integrity high in your life, then with integrity you’ll be honoured eventually, and you’ll hold your head high. If we forgive, then we can expect God’s forgiveness of our shortcomings. This is the way the world was created, and these are the laws of the Spirit, as unchangeable as the laws of physics and chemistry.
But you can plan to work within those laws and build a wonderful “house” of your life. Seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and his righteousness, (right behaviours) and all these things (that you might desire) will be added to you.
Ask for wisdom and you will receive it.
