Truth Wisdom Freedom - The Truth will set you free!

Who are You?

December 17th 2006 12:04
Do you know what you believe? Who you are is largely what you believe, and what you’ll stand up for. So I’m asking you, what do you believe? What is worth all your major efforts. They say “As a man thinketh, so is he”. That’s a quotation from proverbs in the Bible. When all said and done, your clothes, your “cool”, your possessions, your status or wealth, your position, your relationship with those around you are all a product of the way you think, and the way you think is a product of what you believe.

So what do you believe? What you believe will define your life, relationships, everything. What you believe is a result of your own choice. Circumstances happen, both good and bad, but it’s the way you handle them that counts, and the way you handle them is the product of what you think, which is the product of what you believe.

So, what do you believe? It’s most important to know. What beliefs are dug deep into your psyche? What voices in your head do you listen to? You actually have all the choices. You also have the responsibility and the results!

Therefore it’s important to know what you believe because it may need changing if you are not getting the right results!

You can only get the right results by having the right behaviours. You can only have the right behaviours if your thinking and your belief system is right. Your thinking can only be right if it’s based in truth. The truth cannot be whatever you imagine it to be any more than the law of gravity can be whatever you think it is. Therefore you MUST find out what the Truth is! “The Truth will set you free” says the scripture. That means free of the influence of lies, half-truths (sometimes the most dangerous of all since they appear true) deviations and concoctions.

The most important thing in life then is to discover Truth. That means putting aside personal agenda (very difficult to do). There is such a thing as the Spriit of Truth.. There are a lot of spirits you don’t want in your life, but this one is most important! Ask Him to lead you into all Truth so you can be made free! A man who loves truth above all things is a man indeed, a man who cannot be bought, a man who knows what he believes and doesn’t easily get persuaded from it. He is a man who is able to listen and assess by the spirit-level (as in building) of reality. This works in every sphere of life, whether you are planning strategies at work or discussing the adventures of your children in the world they live in. Truth is always the yardstick.

Discovering Truth? That’s another story!

Taken for Granted!

December 12th 2006 03:45
What are you taking for granted?

Where I live we are having the driest year on record just about. The whole city is on rations for water. We’ve always had plenty of water, green gardens on automatic sprinkler systems throughout long, hot summers, Not so now. Many people have given up watering lawns altogether. We are limited to hand or drip watering at certain times of the day and week only. Cars may not be washed with a hose – use your bucket. Collect the washing machine water and bucket it out to the fruit trees. Use the right nozzle on your hose so it turns off when not compressed. We’ve had little rain all winter and the levels in the dams are less than half the usual quantity. Great care is needed. The whole city is beginning to appreciate the great value of water.

So I wonder what else I am taking for granted – my comfortable home and colourful garden and pets, the great variety of healthy food here, freedom to say what I think, a busy life with plenty to do, family, birds (my boarder doesn’t have birds in his home city!), a peaceful lifestyle, a rich culture, certain friendships, God Himself who loves me beyond measure, (yes, He does, believe it or not!), hobbies, a million books to read, beautiful places to visit, opportunities to do good things, interesting things.,. Surely this is enough to keep me happy and laughing for a lifetime!

Yet I consider people who have none of these things. What makes me so fortunate? Nothing I did! That’s for sure. I don’t deserve these privileges any more than they do – in fact I’ve probably abused them and therefore deserve them much less on that account.

Now my sense of justice kicks in. I actually owe them something – some of my own good fortune. Finding the means of sharing my privileges is the one way I can truly appreciate them.

It is interesting that I can learn to appreciate things in a community setting, but if I take them for granted I isolate myself from community in order to do that. Danger signals flashing! Isolation is not ideal!, not great psychology! Appreciation and justice go hand in hand with community. See how appreciation awakens and sharpens the mind. We don’t have rights. Narrow-minded, self-centred people have rights. We have privileges. We owe these to people who have, through their sense of justice and community, worked for and won them for us. The more we give thanks for, and share them, the better we’ll enjoy them!

A Key for your Life

December 10th 2006 10:25
I’ve been writing recently about purpose. We Christians believe there is purpose written all over everything on this earth, and there is purpose for our lives. (You can’t really believe it all came into being for no reason!)

When are the best times in your life? Is it when you are celebrating some achievement? Then you are celebrating the fact that you are a purposeful being, made to prosper. What can you think of right now that represents something you have achieved? Everybody has something. Even if you feel vastly unsuccessful over all, there have been, from time to time, little success experiences you can enumerate..

One of the keys to purpose that we have found is to consider what makes you angry. For Dr. Martin Luther King it was discrimination, and his life purpose was dealing with that. For Hitler it was not being top dog – but that was entirely selfish! Real life purpose doesn’t have a self-centred goalpost. It’s got to be about service to others.

For me it has to do with Truth and lies. I love to expose lies for what they are and replace them with truth, because the truth sets us free to be real! This came from a prayer ministry where lies (that have been believed and have debilitated a personality in consequence) have been exposed by asking Jesus. He gives the Truth in place of the lies and the personality is healed in a big way!

How many people have sat on secrets, being told, when being abused, that they must not tell anyone because the disastrous results will be their fault? What lies! There is nothing that cannot be assisted with the right conversations.

What injustice makes you angry? (I’m sure justice is a strong player in life’s purpose). People are into animal liberation, greening the country, child protection, many, many things. I’m suggesting that your reasonable anger may reveal a task or purpose for your life. Not only that, but your talent in that area is also revealed! What if you could make strides in dealing with that situation? How many people could you help? What would you feel if you could make a difference?

Ready to Marry?

December 6th 2006 12:14

More than anything else in life your partner needs to be your friend. If you haven’t got a friend, you’ve got nothing. Unless you can work as a team, you wont get anywhere. Good-looking, rich, cool and trendy, intellectual or sporty, will, by themselves, let you down. Someone who knows how to be a friend makes for a better , longer-lasting marriage.

Relationship Reality

December 2nd 2006 02:33
I’ve talked to many sufferers of domestic violence. In a small degree I suffered it myself, but hadn’t realized what it was! I must admit, I wasn’t much good at suffering it (putting up with it, I mean, tolerating it) You see, I had a dad that wanted only the best for me, so it came as a frightful shock and I exploded out of it without thinking about it too much! But I engaged with it again, and then again! How absolutely ridiculous! I didn’t understand what was happening.

But God has decreed that all things work together for good to those who are called… .. So He has turned it around so that I now recognize any form of violence a mile off, and challenge it immediately. I’d like everyone to be able to do the same

Feeling Safe

December 1st 2006 04:39
Two words are not heard a lot lately, yet they are wonderful words with power attached. They are standout words because the person they describe will stand apart from the run of the mill people. They describe a man whose destiny is of more value than personal popularity and who cannot be pulled this way and that in the tug of war games that are played out in daily life. They describe a man who has a vision of manhood that defines his life and informs him how to live it, who lives to an ideal, rather than puddling or pushing through life.

As a woman, when I find these qualities in a man, then I like what I see because I can permit myself to trust. These qualities are more important than good looks, athleticism, coolness, fashion, intellect, wealth – all of which are attractive enough., but not enough. All of those qualities will let me down.
